The McLaren Brothers Sign!

5th July 2024

We're delighted to welcome our next two summer additions ahead of our first friendlies, as Reg and Connor McLaren join the club!

The brothers played together last season with Cumbernauld Colts, and Reg previously featured for us, with Edusport Academy, on loan as a sixteen year old.

The striker  is a powerful presence in attack and will provide another option to current striking options Ross McNeil and Josh Gemmell.

Braves manager Ricky Waddell said: "I knew Reg's character from when he was young and I'd spoke to a couple of people who really recommended him, in terms of on the park and off the park.

"I think he gives us a different outlet. His energy's fantastic, he's got an eye for a goal, he can hold the ball up and can flick it on. I'm excited to have him in the team."

The 25-year-old began his senior career with Stirling Albion, before moving to Jeanfield Swifts. Reg then embarked upon a spell with TU Nighthawks, the soccer team of Thomas University, Georgia, where he was named in an All-Conference team for his achievements.

Reg returned to Scotland and enjoyed spells with both East Kilbride and Cumbernauld Colts, before finding his way to Alliance Park.

Reg joins the club alongside older brother Connor, 27. The winger also featured for Cumbernauld Colts last season and will add quality to the side in the final third.

Ricky added: "I like where Connor is at in his career and when he was young he had a good upbringing at Celtic. He's a boy that I like because he's got assurance and he likes to play football.

"I felt like we needed someone who can really link the game. He's got good quality in that final third. I like his personality and how he carries himself."

Connor began his career in the prestigious youth academy of Celtic, before moving to St. Johnstone in 2015. The winger would have loan spells with Stirling and Elgin, before moving to Montrose in 2018.

Seasons with Jeanfield and Cumbernauld Colts would follow for Connor, who makes the move alongside his brother to ML1 for the coming season.

Welcome to the club lads!
