Caledonian Braves can confirm the departure of Scott Cusick, as the versatile midfielder leaves Alliance Park to pursue an opportunity in Australia.
The 20-year-old former Celtic youth player joined the Braves in July 2022 from fellow Lowland League club, Gala Fairydean Rovers.
Assuming the number 8 shirt, Scott went on to make 27 appearances across all competitions, rapidly becoming a key component of the Braves starting XI.
Despite the obvious disappointment of losing a player of Scott’s quality, manager Ricky Waddell was keen to express his happiness for Scott. “I'm delighted for Scott. An opportunity came up that he felt he and his partner wanted to explore in Australia and it’s something the club wanted to support after hearing his reason. He reiterated he loved his time at Braves. We will miss him on the park as he really started to play well in recent months.”
There can be no doubt about Scott’s excellent contribution during his short time with Braves as he registered 12 goal contributions (six goals and six assists) across his 27 appearances along with a string of man of the match performances. Scott scored some stunning and important goals including a dramatic equaliser to complete a remarkable comeback as Braves drew 3-3 with Rangers B at Alliance Park in August.
Waddell went on to highlight the model of the club and wished Scott well as he commented, “We are a club that helps develop the player as well as having the priority of winning games. Scott contributed to that, and I believe Scott leaves us a better, more rounded player. We wish him and his family all the best in Oz.”
Everyone at the Braves would like to thank Scott for his efforts during his time at Alliance Park and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
