For the first time, a Scottish club will be involved in the FENIX Trophy, as we accept an exciting invitation to participate in the prestigious European competition this season.
The FENIX Trophy was created to showcase some of the most exciting non-league teams in Europe, and we’re thrilled to be the latest addition to a stacked group of clubs.
Chris Ewing, Club Founder is delighted to be involved in the competition: "This is a fantastic opportunity and great for the guys to have the chance to play in Europe.
"The tournament matches very closely with our values, aiming to bring people together and showcase the club's home cities.
"It'll be brilliant if we can get a nice draw to get the boys into Europe. It's a really exciting opportunity for a club at our level and a chance to get a bit of exposure for Scottish football."
The competition will adopt a new knockout format this season, where two sides will face each other home and away. The eight winners will advance to the second knockout round, with the final four travelling to Italy in spring, for the semi-finals and final!
Braves manager, Ricky Waddell added: “Everybody is excited to be part of this European competition and we're all looking forward to the draw on Monday.
"Playing in this tournament will add another dimension and different challenges for our team. It's testament to the club for putting us forward into the competition. Overall, it's a unique opportunity for the players to show what they can do on a European stage!"
The tournament organisers hand-select clubs with unique stories to tell and we're delighted to have been recognised, which is a huge testament to our diverse ownership group and collective vision. A special thanks to Stuart Fuller, ex-chairman of Lewes FC who recommended the club to the tournament. Joining us this year will be:
- England: FC United of Manchester, Walton & Hersham, Bury AFC
- Wales: Llantwit Major
- Czechia: Prague Raptors
- Norway: FC Oslo
- Denmark: BK Skjold
- Romania: Venus Bucarest
- Poland: KP BOR
- Finland: Gilla FC
- Italy: Brera FC
- Germany: Athletic Sonnenberg
- Serbia: FK Miljakovac
- Belgium: Berchem Sport
- Montenegro: Fans United
In further news, the competition organisers have sealed an agreement with broadcasting partners, Instant Replay. This will ensure that every game from the competition is streamed live on YouTube, so you can follow live around the world… so we’ll be looking out for some big online noise from our global ownership community!
The draw for the first round is set to take place on Monday, so keep an eye across our official channels for updates when available. The first round will ‘kick-off’ immediately after the draw, with a completion date of December.
A huge testament to our unique ownership model and growth in recent months, we can’t wait for the first round draw next week!
